Title: Women’s Employment and Entrepreneurship in Just Transition Territories

Short Description: The project supports the Cohesion Policy objective “Effectiveness and inclusiveness of labour market, access to quality employment, social economy”, by strengthening partners’ capacities to address the employment needs and increase the entrepreneurship opportunities for women, and build a more diversified and inclusive workforce in JT territories. The project also aligns with:- The Just Transition Fund Regulation, by promoting labour market participation and entrepreneurship for women.- The Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025, by enhancing gender mainstreaming in JT policies.- The European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan, by helping halve gender employment gap by 2030. – The EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change, by addressing the unequal exposure of women to climate change impact, through requalification and training initiatives to support their transition to green jobs.

. ISABEL –  Horizon Europe

Title: mInimize coSts and mAximize Benefits in the transitionary European regional Labour markets

Short Description: ISABEL’s main objective is to provide a threefold solution to the aforementioned problem related to JCD with the use of new technologies such as AI and Large Language Models (LLM) that will 1) enrich our understanding of the socially and geographically uneven implications of this process across Europe, 2) broaden our knowledge on the factors underlying this process, and 3) highlight pathways of minimising the effects of job destruction and maximising the benefits of job creation, in a socially and spatially fair way. The latter include upskilling and reskilling of workers and the reallocation of labour, based on existing and forecasted skills shortages, using AI technologies to support these tasks.To achieve its main goal, ISABEL will examine the above elements at 3 different levels: i) the aggregate European level, among the EU, UK and Serbian Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics 2 regions (NUTS2), using secondary data, ii) at 6 countries of focus -Denmark, Greece, Poland, UK, Serbia, Spain, collecting and analysing primary data, and iii) Living Labs focusing on 6 regions with diverse socio-economic features.

Title: The impact of a Just Transition Observatory on energy transition. Exploring synergies with spatial justice and place-based governance through a comparative perspective

 

Short Description: JT-OBSERVATORY probes deeper into the need for efficient governance encompassing monitoring and assessment of just transition at local/regional level. To this end, the project aims to explore synergies among Just Transition Observatories, place-based governance, spatial justice, and deliberative democracy, based on a comparative case study analysis in three different coal regions in Greece, Bulgaria, and Poland. The compelling research question relates to the potential contribution of an objective and collectively agreed monitoring and assessment mechanisms at local/regional level, on a “just” energy transition in relation to governance configuration and spatial imbalances. It is also examined whether the current set of just transition policies at local/regional level and the existing structures of the governance system support or impede spatial justice and whether place-based policies are able to mobilize local resources and generate endogenous growth.

Title: Low-Carbon SME Development and Transition

 

Short Description:  The overall objective of the COMMIT project is to support local and regional authorities in developing an SME support ecosystem for the industrial transition. COMMIT will focus on four inter-related areas where the mechanisms for SME access need to be improved: information/knowledge, innovation/technology, finance, and skills. Through the identification, analysis and dissemination of good practices, the project will support the development of place-based strategies, instruments, facilities and governance arrangements that they can deliver an integrated and coherent support for low-carbon entrepreneurship and SME development, while giving particular attention to microenterprises and entrepreneurship among underrepresented groups.

Title: Embedding EU Green Deal and Just Transition in Teaching & Learning

 

Short Description:  The central idea of the project is to implement and promote the framework of the EU Green Deal and Just Transition Mechanism as recent core EU policies which will shape its future the next decades, while the vision is a comprehensive teaching and learning material accompanied with a novel e-Intensive Learning Programme linked with 5 ECTS. In practical terms, the response of why this project matters can be found in the Just Transition annex of the recently launched European semester report for each country (EC, 2020). To underline the importance of successfully implementing the EU Just Transition projects, the failure means a high carbon economy with an environmental disaster with consequences for many generations.

Title:   Governance and Social Impact of Coal Regions under transition

Short Description: The main objective of SITRANS is to promote the place-based governance approach and tailor-made transformative policies in areas that are intensely experiencing the process of coal phase out. It is estimated to enhance public and citizens’ engagement and the legitimacy of policies in the perception of citizens who suffer the consequences of the success or failure of these strategies through deliberative democracy practices. SITRANS aims to elaborate on the complex and challenging nature of decarbonization in coal regions considering the social, economic and environmental factors that influence the transition process and develop a robust framework for citizens to flourish on an individual and/or collective basis with the ultimate purpose of contributing to all decisions involved towards a just transition.

Title:    Corporate Acceleration for existing ventures

Short Description: The project addresses two common cross-border challenges: a) population decline due to the brain-drain phenomenon where highly educated people migrate abroad in search of better career opportunities and b) high unemployment rates (youth unemployment rates. Title:    Resituating the local in cohesion and territorial development

Short Description:  The RELOCAL project aims to identify the determinants that shape better access of the local scale to European policies and the ability of the local level to deal adequately with inequalities, leveraging local capacities and European structures.
