ENTRA-Lab, representing the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM), participated in the ISABEL General Assembly held on 2–3 April 2025 at the University of Copenhagen. The event brought together project partners from across Europe to align efforts and share progress on shaping fair labour market transitions in the context of the green and digital shift.
Over two highly productive days, consortium members reviewed the development of all Work Packages and explored strategies for impactful, place-based solutions that promote spatial justice and inclusive growth.
A key highlight of the meeting was Work Package 6 (WP6): Living Labs on Just Career Development (JCD) and Reskilling Policies, led by ENTRA-Lab at UoWM. This innovative Work Package lies at the heart of ISABEL’s mission, providing experimental, real-world environments to co-create tailored responses to local labour market challenges.
The six regional Living Labs—located in Western Macedonia (🇬🇷), Silesia (🇵🇱), Asturias (🇪🇸), Zealand (🇩🇰), Belgrade (🇷🇸), and North-East Scotland (🇬🇧)—enable the testing and refinement of ISABEL tools in diverse socio-economic contexts. From addressing job losses in post-lignite economies to supporting green upskilling efforts in Denmark, WP6 ensures that solutions are both locally grounded and scalable.
ENTRA-Lab’s leadership in WP6 focuses on:
- Designing place-based, experimental policy tools
- Fostering collaboration through the quintuple helix model (academia, industry, government, civil society, and the environment)
- Applying ISABEL tools to improve skills development, job matching, and spatial justice
- Ensuring policies are trusted, practical, and sustainable
The insights shared and progress achieved during the Assembly underscored the importance of regional experimentation and stakeholder engagement in delivering just transitions across Europe.
We extend our sincere thanks to the University of Copenhagen and the Danish project team for their generous hospitality and excellent organisation.
As WP6 moves forward, ENTRA-Lab remains committed to empowering regions through innovative, inclusive, and future-ready labour policies.
